It is not only the skin that can be harmed by UV-rays, but your sight can also be diminished. If your eyes are exposed to the sun, long and intensive radiation can lead to an infection of your eyes’ conjunctiva or cornea. That is why it is so important to use sunglasses and eyewear with UV-protection. Our lenses all ensure you 100% UVA/UVB protection, assuring you protection from harmful rays that can lead to permanent eye damage.
The lenses have been covered with our Anti-fog coating, a lens treatment that will make your lenses more resistant against fogging up. Your lenses fog because of temperature differences and the level of moisture in the air, meaning when warm or moist air hits the cool surface of the lenses, fog can occur. This can be the result of you engaging in intense activities or simply due to changes in weather conditions. But with these anti-fog coated lenses, you get lenses that are highly resistant against fog, ensuring you a clearer vision even under high performance activities.
All Wiley X lenses are treated with our T-Shell™ scratch resistant coating, which will protect the lenses against damage and extend their life span. With Wiley X you not only get lenses made from the high-quality material, polycarbonate, but also lenses that are coated with this top-of-the line hard coating, which ensure your lenses’ durability.
Our changeable lenses provide you with exceptional protection and visibility in any environment. You can easily swap out one lens/shield for another, giving you the power to adapt to any light conditions you might encounter or venture out into.
All Wiley X eyewear comes with our shatterproof Selenite™ polycarbonate lenses. This material is super durable and strong, and we use it to ensure that our rigorous testing can be carried out, so you can get lenses that are certified to the toughest optical safety standards.
Triloid™ Nylon is the toughest non-metal material available. It not only gives you lightweight comfort, but it also extremely strong. Among other, it is thanks to this highly durable material that WX eyewear can withstand the rigorous safety tests that we certify all our eyewear to. It might have a light and plastic feel, but TriloidTM Nylon is much stronger and of a higher quality.
With the adjustable nose piece you are given a perfect fit that accommodates any face/nose bridge, so that you are ensured a slip-free and comfortable wear. A cool feature that can be adapted to match your nose and face. It is also designed to hold a prescription insert, if needed.
The eyewear can be fitted with prescription lenses to match your optical needs. If you need prescription lenses, please reach out to a Wiley X optician near you and they will assist you in constructing prescription lenses for your WX eyewear, either directly into the lenses or using a prescription insert, depending on your Wiley X eyewear model.
The base curve refers to the curvature of the lenses, which defines how much the frame wraps around your face. The higher the base curve, the larger curvature. Wiley X operates with base curve eight and base curve six, however we do have some models that has a base curve between and under these two values.
Base curve eight means that the eyewear has a large curvature and a high wrap fit, meaning that the eyewear will enclose your face to a greater extent, which also will ensure you better protection against light in your peripheral field of view.
Base curve six lenses that are less curved than eyewear with a base curve eight. They have a medium wrap fit, meaning that they do not enclose your face in the same way, but rather sit flatter against your face. This makes them fit more face types and sizes better.
Picking out the perfect pair of eyewear or sunglasses can be difficult, because how do you know if it will fit your head? First step is to determine your head size. If you know the circumference (the measurement around your head), it will be much easier to know if the eyewear will fit you. Simply, take out a tape measure and measure the circumference of your head. Compare the number you get with the table you see above.
For instance, if your head has a circumference of 58 cm you have a large head size, and your face should be able to fit all our models that covers this head size. Many of our models have more than one fitting head size, for instance M-L.
This means that if your head size is either medium or large, you will be able to fit this model.
The frame width refers to the distance between the ends of your frame, including the hinges. To achieve the best result, both in terms of look and fit, the frame width and the width of your face, should correspond fairly. If the frame is too wide, you can risk that the eyewear will look too oversized to your face, and there might be a greater risk for the eyewear to slide down and your view being distorted. A too narrow frame can on the other seem too small for your face and pressure against your temples, potentially leading to headaches.
The temple length (arm length) is crucial for a secure fit. If they are too long to your face, the eyewear will slide right of. If they are too short, the eyewear will pressure against your temples, ears, and nose. The temple length is measured from the screw to the temple tip, including any bend the design might have.
ANSI Z87.1 tested means that the frame and lenses meet or exceed specific safety ratings set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), who has developed a certification system for safety eyewear in the US. As an American brand, we test our eyewear to pass a high velocity impact test and a high mass impact test, as dictated by ANSI.
The high velocity impact test demands that the frame and lenses must withstand the impact of a 6,35 mm steel ball fired at 164,6 km/h, while remaining intact. The high mass impact test demands that the frame and lenses must remain intact while withstanding a 500 grams pointed projectile that is dropped down on the eyewear from a height of 127 cm.
This eyewear is tested to meet or exceed the ballistic standardization MIL-PRF-32432A, which is the American military norm for eyewear and goggles. In terms of protection against ballistic fragments, Wiley X eyewear frames and lenses are tested to withstand a .15 caliber projectile traveling at 768-796 km/h, whereas goggles must withstand a .15 caliber projectile traveling at 636-647 km/h. This means that you with Wiley X ballistic tested eyewear and goggles are ensured the highest rated protection against fragments, as trusted by the armed forces of the world.
An EN.166F test means that the frame and lens live up to a low energy impact standard. The eyewear must withstand the impact of a 6 mm steel ball at 0,86 grams, which is dropped from 1,3 meters at a speed of 162 km/h. The lens must remain in the intact frame and not shatter for it to pass. This is a huge quality stamp when it comes to our performance sunglasses and protective eyewear, as you are guaranteed the same level of protection and quality, as the soldiers of the world demand.
Light transmission refers to the VLT (visual light transmittance) of the eyewear, meaning how much visible light that can pass through your lenses. This info is given in percentage and indicates the darkness of your lenses, so the lover a VLT your eyewear has, the darker the lens will be. For instance, if a pair of sunglasses has a light transmission value of 15%, it means that 15% of the visible light will pass through the lenses.
The WX VAPOR combines its lightweight frame with an aggressive design, an outstanding field of view, and thin rubber-tipped temples that gives a unique, bold look, packed with versatility. The flexible frame guarantees a fit on all head shapes, and the rubberized twist lock nose piece will ensure you a superior grip during almost any activity. Designed with style and comfort in mind, the WX VAPOR is a pair of protective eyewear that is here to keep you safe from unexpected impacts.
